Chinese Spring Festival Workshop: Calligraphy

This February, we continue the Chinese New Year celebrations with two special spring festival workshops at Glynn Vivian.

Calligraphy

For this workshop you will need:

  • Any ink, watercolour or watered down paint

  • A soft brush, medium sized

  • Any paper

13:00 – Talk and Presentation: the Four Treasures of Chinese Calligraphy; the yin and yang of Calligraphy

13:15 – Practical session: Practice basic strokes accompanied by Guqin (Zither) music

13:25 – Talk and Presentation: Significance of the Fu character

13:35 – Calligraphy practice: Fu character

14:00 – Guqin workshop

14:15 – Talk and Presentation: The 4 Gentlemen of Chinese Brush Painting

14:30 – Practical session: Brush painting practice basic principles

14:45 – Talk and Presentation: Peach blossom Village story

15:00 – Practical session: brush painting peach blossom

 

Free, everyone welcome.
