From 6pm, join artist Hetain Patel, for a ‘Friends of the Glynn Vivian talk’ as he discusses his nationwide project Come As You Really Are, commissioned and produced by Artangel and partners.

Performance by the Croseo Choir from 7pm.


Friends of the Glynn Vivian Artist talk: Hetain Patel

Patel has devised the nationwide project Come As You Really Are with Artangel, which is made up of 13 regional presentations across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales from Summer 2024 – 2026.

The exhibition Come As You Really Are ꞁ Swansea Open 2025 at Glynn Vivian will run from 15 February – 27 April, showcasing unique hand-crafted objects, with contributions from hobbyists including collectors, costume and cosplay makers, painters, crocheters and knitters, model makers, robotics engineers, origami specialists and many more.

A new film by Patel, co-commissioned by Artangel and partners, which explores the outstanding creativity and passion that people put into their hobbies will be on display in Room 3, alongside a selection of objects featured within it.


Hetain Patel is a London based artist and filmmaker. His films, sculptures, live performances, paintings and photographs have been shown worldwide in galleries, theatres and on iconic public screens, including Piccadilly Circus, London, and Times Square, New York. His works have been presented at the Venice Biennale, Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art, Beijing and Tate Modern, London, to Sadler’s Wells.

Patel’s work exploring identity and freedom, using choreography, text and popular culture appears in multiple formats and media, intended to reach the widest possible audience. His video and performance work online have been watched over 50 million times, which includes his TED talk of 2013 titled, ‘Who Am I? Think Again’.
