AFTERNOON WORKSHOP:

13:30 – 15:30
Room 1
Experiment with mark making and cardboard construction to create 3d scenes in the style of Joseph Herman.
Joseph Herman was a Polish-British painter who earned the nickname “Joe Bach” when he lived in Ystradgynlais for 11 years. During his time in the village, he painted the miners who lived and worked there. We are proud to house his huge painting, Miners which he made for the festival of Britain in 1951. It is one of our most well known and requested artworks in our collection. Today his drawings and painting are widely celebrated as an important part of Wales’s cultural identity.
Draw figures and building with charcoal, add paint, then cut out and construct your own 3D painting to take home and keep.
