Glynn Vivian is delighted to announce a new project with artist Fox Irving.
This summer, we begin a project working with artist Fox Irving and the surrounding area LGBTQ+ community in Swansea to co-curate a collection of objects, stories and artefacts in response to the Glynn Vivian collection.
This work will result in an interwoven gallery exhibition within the GV current collection display with accompanying publication, due to take place in Feb 2022 for LGBT+ History Month.
Artist Fox Irving said, “I am very excited to be working with the team at Glynn Vivian, to explore the collection and to celebrate the work of LGBTQ+ artists past and present.
“I am so pleased to be contributing to the visibility of LGBTQ+ heritage and community in the arts in Swansea, and I look forward to working with local LGBTQ+ groups to reinterpret and reimagine the collection through this project.”
Fox Irving is a South East based, Liverpool born, working class artist. Their art is shaped by the liminal, precarious identity they inhabit as queer/femme/working class. With a playful, D.I.Y approach informed by activist strategies and centering collaboration, Fox investigates how art can be used by marginalised communities that they are part of as a tool of empowerment. www.foxirving.com
