Torn trousers? Moth eaten knitwear? Threadbare elbows?
Join Textiles artist, Menna Buss for a tour of visible mending, a creative way to fix clothing snags.
Menna will demonstrate a variety of mending solutions, sharing examples and showing the tools and materials needed.
You will have the opportunity to create your own samples of Japanese ‘Boro’ patching, ideal for denims as well as traditional darning with colourful yarns for knitwear.
After lunch, Menna will guide you through the design and completion of your own visible mend – please bring along one or two garments in need of some care.
You may also wish to bring our own basic sewing kit, yarns and threads but this is not essential.
Booking essential. Tickets £40. All materials provided. Call 01792 516900 or book online
A limited number of free places are available to our refugee community and individuals seeking asylum or those with Passport to Leisure. Please ask our friendly team for more details.

Menna Buss
Menna is a textiles artist-facilitator with 15 years’ experience (BA Costume Design, PGCE)
In wardrobe departments in London’s West End and as a costume maker for ENO, BBC & British Shakespeare Company, Menna has seen many alterations and mends.
Since her return to Swansea in 2015, Menna has been delighted by a resurgence of interest in Textiles practices. She has been teaching basic sewing to encourage people to delay their clothes’ journey to landfill. Her skill in visible mending, darning, weaving and embroidery developed while living in South India and Central America. The colour palettes used are inspired by textile traditions of these cultures.
Menna currently teaches our Glynn Vivian Threads group on a Tuesday afternoon at the Gallery.
