Papercraft portraits
Saturday Family Workshops take place on the first Saturday of each month. For families with children aged 6-10, these friendly workshops are a chance to create together, experiment with new ideas and learn all about some of the amazing art we have on display at Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
This month we will be looking at the work Anya Paintsil, whose work has recently been acquired from the collection.
Using personal imagery as inspiration, Anya creates large scale hand punched pull rugs, which are often self-portraits, or depict members of her family and friends, and explore themes such as identity, Welsh-ness and race.
In this online workshop we will use basic materials to create a mixed media portrait, inspired by Anya’s work.
What you will need:
- Collage materials (preferably full page A4 size pages)
- Magazines
- Vintage paper / maps / disused correspondence
- Water based paint
- Pencil
- Pens
- Pastels
- PVA glue or glue stick
- Scissors or scalpel
- Small hand mirror (optional)
- Rubber
- Ruler
This workshop is an online zoom webinar, you can chat with the tutors via the chat function, but your camera and the camera of other participants will not be visible.
